Working with a major client within the Automotive
Industry in the UK, J&J Pneumatics has developed a
safety system for testing tyres.
The project involved developing a Pneumatic Control
system to test for rapid deflation of Sports Car
tyre, at speed.
We designed the tooling to be fitted to a High
Performance Alloy Wheel, which was to be fitted to a
Sports Car. A car was driven at high speed in test
circuit conditions, to enable the tests to be
carried out.
The objective of the test was to simulate the
effects of a Tyre blow out, and specifically to
monitor the performance and stability of the tyre on
rim at speed.
The customer stated the system worked extremely
well, providing them with specific information
relating to the safety performance of the tyre and
wheel operating in extreme circumstances.
